Keep your own bees
- Keen to help preserve bees who are so instrumental in the preservation of food diversity and biodiversity?
- Are you a company looking for an original way to raise awareness amongst your staff and unite them?
- Are you a town that is mindful of the well-being of all its residents, pollinators included?
Give bee colonies a home
Why not introduce one or several bee colony/colonies to your site? By doing so, you will help us to regenerate bee populations and to take action to tackle the causes of pollinator loss.
One hive can accommodate a colony of 50,000 bees. One bee will travel 1.5 km on average to forage but it can travel up to 3 km. a 1.5 km radius corresponds to 700 ha, i.e. 1,000 soccer pitches, where bees forage and pollinate 4 billion flowers on average a year (1,300 tons of apples, 800 tons of pears, 128 tons of cherries, etc.). While doing so, they fertilise these plants and help to preserve biodiversity.
The practical side
You don't have to worry about a thing! Together we will manage all the aspects associated with your bee colony and in complete safety at that.
The bees can be positioned on the ground if there is enough space to leave a safe distance or on a flat roof.
Before launching into any project, we carry out a feasibility study free of charge to check whether the environment is suitable for bee colonies and to ensure that the colonies are suitable for the environment! We take care to only introduce bees that are in the area already whether they be the black, Buckfast or Carniolan honey bees.
Honey, seed and communication tools
Obviously, we will supply you with jars of honey with your own logo which you can present to your staff, customers, suppliers…. Every jar comes with an explanation about your campaign and its impact. An excellent way to tell people about your commitment and values!
We can also supply you with seed of nectar and pollen-rich flowers to sow at your site or to give to your employees, customers or citizens to sow in theirs!
Furthermore, we provide you with a number of other internal and external communication tools.
Involve your stakeholders
Anyone interested (staff, schools, citizens…) will be invited to lend a helping hand with the colonies when the BEEODIVERSITY beekeepers come to pay them a visit!
Beekeeping courses can also be organised.
